Volunteers...a Special Part of Memorial Hospital

Memorial Healthcare Systems Volunteert ServicesVolunteers are a special part of the team at Memorial Hospital. They give their time to the hospital, its staff, its patients, and the Auxiliary.

Men, women, and students volunteer for a variety of reasons. However, all of them receive satisfaction by helping others.

An applicant must be 16 years of age, have a serious intent to become a volunteer, and be able to make a minimum commitment of one year. Each applicant is asked to complete a written application form and have an interview. A medical statement must be completed by the applicant's family physician to verify the physical well-being and emotional stability that are required by volunteer service.

A general orientation is scheduled once a month. Additional training is provided on the job by an employee or a senior volunteer. In any case, the applicant should have a sincere desire to perform a community service and should be willing to learn as much as possible about his or her assigned service.

Memorial Healthcare Systems Volunteert ServicesThere are many departments in the hospital where volunteers work. As an applicant, you may wish to accept temporary assignments, on-call work, or a permanent position.

The director of Volunteer Services works with each applicant to select an assignment that will best utilize the volunteer's talents and interests. If you would like more information about volunteer opportunities at Memorial Hospital, please call Volunteer Services at 334-6609.
