160 local students turn out for $15 sports physicals

28-Jul-2012

On June 20, the Memorial Hospital Physical Medicine Department provided $15 sports physical exams at the Herbert-Perna Center for Physical Health. The physicals were available to all area student-athletes entering grades 7 –12. A total of 160 participants received exams at the 2012 event. Students from Fremont Ross, SJCC, Old Fort, Clyde, and Lakota attended. In addition to the physical medicine department, the discounted sports physicals were made possible by local health care professionals that teamed up to donate their time and talent in order to provide this service to the community.

The money collected will be used to benefit local students. A portion of the proceeds will be earmarked for a scholarship available to area seniors graduating in 2013.  Also, a concussion assessment system called ImPACT is being purchased, which will be used to the benefit of local student athletes.
