Auxiliary of Memorial Hospital awards health scholarships

On May 8, the Auxiliary of Memorial Hospital awarded more than $14,000 in scholarships to twelve students pursuing careers in nursing and other allied health professions. Funds for the Auxiliary of Memorial Hospital scholarships comes from annual proceeds raised at the Charity Ball, from the Memorial Hospital Medical Staff, the Memorial Hospital Physical Medicine Department and from the Al Nichols Family Scholarship. The scholarships were awarded at the Auxiliary’s annual scholarship dinner at the Fremont Country Club.
This year’s Al Nichols Family Scholarships were awarded to Natalie Andrews (a 2013 graduate of Clyde High School, who will attend the University of Akron, majoring in Nursing); Whitney Laird (currently attending The University of Toledo and majoring in Nursing); Lauren Meyer (currently attending Kent State University and majoring in Nursing); Patricia Ollom (currently attending Terra State Community College and majoring in Nursing); and Kayla Yeckley (currently attending The Ohio State University and majoring in Nursing.)
Receiving this year’s Memorial Hospital Medical Staff Mary Dalton Scholarship is Natasha Novitski, who currently attends Mercy College of Ohio, majoring in nursing.
Lauren Rahe was the recipient of this year’s Leadership Award, given by the Memorial Hospital Physical Medicine Department. Rahe is a 2013 graduate of Gibsonburg High School and will attend The Ohio State University and major in Biology.
The Health Education Scholarships given by the Auxiliary went to: Courtney Gabel, currently attending Mt. Union College, with a Physician Assistant Major; Joy Hoffman, currently attending Ohio Northern University and majoring in Pharmacy; Olivia Miller, a 2013 graduate of Fremont Ross High School, who will attend Xavier University to major in Occupational Therapy; and Benjamin Zyski, currently attending The Ohio State University majoring in Pharmacy.
The Auxiliary of Memorial Hospital provides support to the hospital by raising funds and by providing services to support the mission of Memorial Hospital.
